Desmond Ryan B.L., LL.B. (Dub.), B.C.L., M.A. (Oxon.), Ph.D. (Dub.).

Des is a practising barrister in the Law Library, Dublin, specialising in Employment Law. He acts for both employer and employee clients whom he advises on all aspects of Employment Law. Des appears regularly before the Employment Appeals Tribunal, the Equality Tribunal, the Rights Commissioner Service, the Labour Court, as well before the Superior Courts.

Des is a founding member of the Irish Employment Law Association and is a member of the Employment Bar Association, Law Library, Dublin, and the European Employment Lawyers’ Association.

Des lectures at Trinity College, Dublin at both undergraduate and Masters level in Employment Law and Employment Litigation. He holds a Doctorate in Law as well as First Class Law degrees from Trinity College Dublin and Oxford University.

Des has contributed to a number of publications concerning Employment Law and is the co-editor of the Employment Law Review, a quarterly publication dedicated to Employment Law in Ireland. He is also the co-author of the textbook Employment Law in Ireland (Dublin, 2009).

He gives CPD lectures regularly to colleagues in both the solicitors’ and barristers’ profession, to the judiciary, and to Human Resources professionals.
